Head of Science Department – Secondary School in Southampton

Location: Southampton
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: January 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Head of Science to lead the Science department at a reputable secondary school in Southampton. This leadership role offers the chance to shape the future of the department and drive student outcomes in Science.

The Role
As the Head of Science, you will:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, overseeing the delivery of high-quality teaching across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to raise attainment and ensure students achieve their potential.
  • Support and mentor Science teachers, promoting best practices and providing opportunities for professional development.
  • Oversee curriculum development, ensuring lessons are engaging and cater to the needs of all learners.
  • Monitor student progress, using data to inform interventions and ensure positive outcomes.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a Science subject.
  • Proven leadership experience within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
