Science Graduate Teaching Assistant Position Available in Stockport

Teaching Personnel is excited to offer an opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated 'Good' secondary school in Stockport. This full-time role starts ASAP and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly pay range of £419.25 - £500.

Role Overview:

As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of students in the science department. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Classroom Support: Assisting science teachers with the preparation and delivery of lessons, ensuring that students remain engaged and supported throughout.
  • Individual Support: Providing one-on-one assistance to students who require additional help with their science studies, helping to clarify concepts and reinforce learning.
  • Group Sessions: Leading small group sessions to focus on specific areas of the science curriculum, facilitating discussions, and promoting collaborative learning.
  • Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of teaching materials and resources to enhance the learning experience for all students.
  • Student Mentoring: Acting as a mentor to students, offering guidance and support to help them achieve their academic goals.
  • Assessment Assistance: Supporting the assessment process by helping to mark student work, providing constructive feedback, and tracking student progress.
  • Behaviour Management: Contributing to the maintenance of a positive and orderly learning environment by supporting the school's behaviour policies.
  • Extra-Curricular Involvement: Participating in and supporting extra-curricular activities related to science, encouraging student engagement beyond the classroom.
  • Administrative Support: Assisting with administrative tasks related to classroom management and student records.

Requirements:

  • A degree in a science-related field, demonstrating a strong academic background.
  • A passion for science education and a desire to support student learning and development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to different classroom environments.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • A commitment to promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students.
  • Previous experience working with young people or in an educational setting is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
