Job description

Are you an experienced tutor with a passion for helping students overcome school anxiety and emotional barriers to learning?

We are looking for a dedicated EBSA & School Anxiety Tutor to support students in the Oxford and Buckinghamshire areas who are struggling to attend school due to anxiety, low confidence, and other emotional challenges. If you have experience in building trusting relationships, assessing individual needs, and creating tailored learning plans, this could be the perfect role for you.

Your role will be to provide students with the support they need to re-engage with their learning, regain confidence, and overcome the emotional barriers preventing them from attending school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess each student's needs to understand the underlying emotional and psychological factors contributing to school avoidance.

  • Plan and deliver bespoke learning sessions tailored to meet the specific needs of each student, helping them re-engage with their education.

  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to create a safe and supportive environment for learning.

  • Provide strategies to reduce anxiety, boost confidence, and encourage school attendance.

  • Regularly monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies to ensure continued support and improvement.

  • Maintain effective communication with parents, carers, and other professionals to ensure holistic support for the student.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with students facing school anxiety, EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance), and other emotional challenges that impact school attendance.

  • Ability to establish strong relationships with students, creating an environment of trust and support.

  • Experience in assessing, planning, and delivering tailored educational support.

  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with parents and professionals.

  • A patient and empathetic approach to working with students facing emotional barriers.

  • Relevant qualifications in Education, Psychology, SEN, or related fields are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
