Psychology Graduates – SEN Learning Support Assistant
Horsham | Full-time | £21,000 - £25,000 per annum

As a SEN Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be applying key psychological principles daily:
Understanding Behaviour: Apply your knowledge of child psychology, emotional regulation, and behaviour management to support students with additional needs.
❤️ Supporting Mental Health & Trauma Recovery: Work closely with young people who have experienced trauma or struggle with mental health, helping them develop coping strategies in a safe, structured environment.
Practical Experience for Future Careers: This role provides hands-on experience, perfect for graduates considering careers in educational psychology, clinical psychology, social work, therapy, or teaching.
Building Meaningful Relationships: Form strong, trusting connections with students to help them feel supported, understood, and valued.

About the Role
Our SEN schools in Horsham cater to students with a variety of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, anxiety disorders, and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Your role will involve:
✔️ Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups, helping them engage in lessons and develop social skills.
✔️ Assisting teachers with classroom activities and tailored learning plans.
✔️ Using de-escalation and therapeutic techniques to support students with emotional regulation.
✔️ Helping students build confidence and independence in their education.
✔️ Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and self-esteem.
What We’re Looking For
✅ A Psychology degree (or a related subject) with an interest in education, mental health, or child development.
✅ A compassionate and patient approach, with a strong desire to make a difference.
✅ The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to students’ changing needs.
✅ Experience working with young people is beneficial (but not essential – training is provided!).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
