Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Opportunity in Colne (BB8)
Teaching Personnel is excited to offer a rewarding opportunity for a Psychology Graduate Teachin Assistant.
The pay for this role is £12.90 - £14.50 per hour, depending on experience.
This role is ideal for a Psychology graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in an educational setting. You will work closely with students, teachers, and pastoral staff, providing tailored support to ensure all learners reach their potential. This is an excellent steppingstone for individuals considering careers in teaching, educational psychology, or mental health services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Support: Provide one-to-one and small group interventions, particularly for students with social, emotional, and mental health needs, helping them navigate challenges and succeed academically.
- Behavior Management: Assist in implementing positive behavior strategies, helping students manage their emotions and behavior in line with school policies.
- Classroom Assistance: Support teachers during lessons, ensuring all students are engaged and able to access the curriculum effectively.
- Pastoral Care: Work alongside the pastoral team to identify and support students struggling with emotional or mental health challenges.
- Building Confidence: Help students develop self-esteem and resilience through consistent encouragement and targeted activities.
- Monitoring Progress: Track the progress of students you work with, providing feedback to staff and contributing to individualized support plans.
- Mental Health Awareness: Apply your knowledge of psychology to understand students' needs, creating strategies to promote their emotional well-being.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Academic Background: A degree in Psychology or a related subject is essential.
- Interest in Education and Mental Health: A passion for supporting young people and an understanding of the challenges they may face.
- Strong Communication Skills: The ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents, and effectively explain strategies and interventions.
- Adaptable and Patient: Comfortable working with students of varying abilities and backgrounds, tailoring support to meet their unique needs.
- Professional and Organized: Reliable, punctual, and capable of balancing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced school environment.
