SEN Teaching Assistants
Job description
Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to work 1:1 with SEN pupils in primary schools across Plymouth for the summer term.
About the Role:
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored support to pupils with additional needs. Your responsibilities will include:

Providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with SEN, including Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, and other additional needs
-
Supporting the child’s learning and development in line with their EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan)
-
Assisting with behaviour management and implementing strategies to support engagement
-
Helping to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment
-
Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to support individual pupil progress

Using alternative communication methods, such as Makaton or PECS, where applicable
Candidate Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must have:
-
Previous experience working in a UK-based primary school
-
Experience supporting children with SEN on a 1:1 basis
-
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children
-
Strong communication and behaviour management skills
-
Knowledge of SEN strategies and interventions
-
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)

Hold or be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS on the update service

Provide two professional references, including one from a recent educational role

Undergo full compliance and vetting checks in line with DfE and Teaching Personnel standards

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
