Job Title: Primary School Teacher
Location: Yeovil, Somerset
Contract Type: Full-time

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Primary School Teacher to join our vibrant and welcoming school community in the Yeovil area. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all pupils, helping them to achieve their full potential. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about education and supporting children’s development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, using effective behaviour management strategies to ensure students are focused and engaged in their learning.
  • Differentiation: Provide differentiated learning opportunities for students of all abilities, ensuring that the needs of students with special educational needs (SEN) or those with other learning requirements are met.
  • Assessment: Regularly assess and track student progress, using data to inform future planning and provide constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues, including teaching assistants, to share ideas, plan lessons, and provide the best possible support to students.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s progress, behaviour, and well-being, attending parents' evenings and providing reports as required.
  • Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and performance management reviews to improve practice and stay up to date with educational best practices.
  • Safeguarding: Safeguard the welfare of children in line with school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise effectively.
  • Passion for working with children and helping them achieve their best.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development.
  • Enhanced DBS check which is on the update service and eligibility to work in the UK.

Desirable:

  • Experience in a primary school teaching role.
  • Experience working with children with additional needs or special educational needs (SEN).
  • First Aid qualification (desirable, but not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
