Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:45 am - 3:15 pm
Rate of Pay: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour
Are you passionate about supporting young learners and helping children reach their full potential? A vibrant and inclusive primary school is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join our team from January 2025.
As a Learning Mentor, you will play a key role in helping children overcome barriers to learning, providing individual and group support to enhance their educational progress. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive school environment, making a real difference in the lives of children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students who may be struggling academically, socially, or emotionally.
- Encourage and promote positive behaviour and self-esteem in students, using a range of techniques and strategies.
- Work closely with teachers and SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to identify students who need additional support and to develop tailored learning plans.
- Support the development of social skills and emotional wellbeing in students, helping them build resilience and confidence.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of interventions to help students improve their learning outcomes.
- Monitor and track student progress, keeping accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents as needed.
- Act as a positive role model, building strong relationships with students to promote a supportive and safe learning environment.
- Support students during class activities, helping them to remain focused, engaged, and on-task.
- Liaise with parents and carers to ensure they are kept informed of their child’s progress and any areas for development.
Essential Skills & Qualities:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with children, staff, and parents.
- A caring, empathetic, and patient approach to working with children.
- The ability to adapt quickly to the needs of individual students and create a positive learning environment.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and flexible approach to supporting students in their learning.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related field.
- Experience working with children with additional learning needs (SEN).
- First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
