Location: Darwen, Lancashire
Contract Type: Full-time, Maternity Cover
Duration: Until Summer 2026
Salary: MPS/UPS
Start Date: September 2025

A secondary school in Darwen is seeking to appoint a passionate and creative Teacher of Photography to cover a maternity leave until Summer 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students and nurture their technical skills and artistic expression through photography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons in photography to secondary-age students.

  • Support the development of students' creative portfolios and technical understanding of photographic processes.

  • Foster a learning environment that encourages artistic curiosity and confidence.

  • Contribute to the wider creative arts department and support extra-curricular projects where appropriate.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A qualified teacher with a degree in Photography or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).

  • Passionate about photography and committed to helping students explore the subject creatively and technically.

  • Organised, adaptable, and enthusiastic, with the ability to motivate and engage learners of all abilities.

  • Experience teaching photography at secondary level is preferred.

  • A good understanding of the photographic industry, contemporary practice, and digital workflows.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
