PE Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in Portsmouth who are seeking a female PE Teacher to join their team on a maternity cover basis from April 2025 for approximately one year. Due to the nature of the role, which involves supervision in the female changing rooms during lesson time, this position is open to female applicants only.

The school ideally seeks a qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) but will also consider applications from PE specialists with strong coaching or sports leadership experience who do not hold QTS.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and inclusive PE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Supervise students in the female changing rooms during lesson times
  • Inspire students to develop their sporting skills, teamwork, and confidence
  • Organise and oversee extracurricular sports clubs and competitions
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all students
  • Contribute to the wider PE department and school community

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) or a PE specialist with relevant experience
  • Strong classroom management skills and a positive approach to teaching
  • Passion for sports and the ability to motivate and engage students
  • Experience in delivering a variety of sports and physical activities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare
