We are seeking a dedicated Pastoral and Family Support Worker to join our nurturing and inclusive primary school community. In this vital role, you will work closely with pupils, parents, carers, and staff to provide emotional, social, and practical support that makes a real difference to children’s lives.
Job Title: Pastoral/Family Support Worker
Location: Padiham, Burnley
Contract Type: Full-time - Term Time Only (39 weeks)
Salary: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour
Start Date: Monday 2nd June 2025
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and group support for children with social, emotional, or behavioural needs.
- Act as a key link between school and families to promote positive relationships and engagement.
- Work proactively with parents/carers to identify needs and signpost to external agencies when appropriate.
- Develop and implement individual support plans and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
- Support the school’s safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children.
- Deliver interventions focused on attendance, behaviour, and emotional well-being.

- Experience working with children and families in a school, social care, or community setting.
- A warm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and rapport.
- A good understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and early help frameworks.
- Resilience, flexibility, and a passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Desirable:
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. in child development, social work, counselling, or family support).
- Knowledge of local support services and multi-agency working.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
