Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistant – Join Our Nurturing Team!

Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Full-time and Part-time positions available)
Pay: Starting from £83.85 per day
Start Date: ASAP

About Us:
Supporting a vibrant primary school in Newport, providing a safe, inclusive environment for children. We're looking for enthusiastic, patient, and proactive Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistants to join our team and help shape the early educational experiences of our new intake.

About the Role:
As a Nursery and Reception Teaching Assistant, you'll provide support to children in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health needs to help them thrive.
  • Assisting in delivering an inclusive curriculum that fosters confidence and social skills.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans for children with additional learning needs (ALN).
  • Helping children develop numeracy, language, and social skills through engaging activities.
  • Creating a nurturing, safe environment where every child feels valued.
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation through structured activities.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils and parents, offering social and emotional support when needed.

What We’re Looking For:
We want someone who:

  • Has a passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy, and positivity with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Works well as part of a team and is proactive in supporting children’s needs.
  • Experience in early childhood education is valued but not essential.

Requirements:

  • Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • Hold a Child-only DBS certificate registered on the Update System.
  • Provide 2 professional references covering the last 24 months.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
