Maths Teacher (Maternity Cover)
Location: Wimborne, Bournemouth
Agency: Teaching Personnel
Position: Full-Time, January Start 
Salary: In line with PayScale

Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join one of our partnerships secondary schools in Wimborne. This full-time position, commencing in January, will cover a maternity leave and provides an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop students' mathematical skills within a supportive and ambitious teaching environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver High-Quality Lessons: Plan and teach engaging and effective Maths lessons for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, ensuring lessons cater to a range of abilities.
  • Curriculum Development: Implement the school’s Maths curriculum, tailoring lessons to meet curriculum objectives while fostering a love of mathematics in students.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and track students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and implementing strategies to support improvement.
  • Support Individual Needs: Identify and address gaps in knowledge, offering targeted support to ensure all students reach their full potential.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement, fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Maths department to share resources, contribute to curriculum planning, and ensure consistency in teaching practices.
  • Parent Communication: Liaise with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress and address any concerns effectively.
  • Extracurricular Involvement: Contribute to the school community through participation in Maths-related clubs, competitions, or events, enriching students’ experiences beyond the classroom.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent qualification in Mathematics.
  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Maths at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in a secondary school setting.
  • Subject Expertise: A strong understanding of the Maths curriculum, with the ability to inspire a passion for the subject in students.
  • Adaptable and Resilient: Able to adjust teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs and effectively manage classroom dynamics.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Confident in engaging with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a positive learning experience.
  • Organized and Efficient: Capable of balancing lesson planning, assessment, and extracurricular responsibilities within a dynamic school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
