SEN Maths Teacher required for a Secondary School in Portsmouth

About the School: The school is a vibrant and inclusive mainstream secondary school located in the heart of Portsmouth. The SEN provision is a crucial part of the school's commitment to ensuring that all students, regardless of their needs, receive a high-quality education.

The Role: The school is seeking a passionate and dedicated Maths Teacher with experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN) to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Maths within the SEN provision, delivering tailored and engaging lessons that meet the diverse needs of the students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality Maths lessons that cater to the needs of SEN students.
  • Developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCO and other staff.
  • Monitoring and assessing students' progress, providing regular feedback and support to ensure they achieve their academic goals.
  • Fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
  • Working closely with parents, guardians, and external agencies to support the holistic development of SEN students.
  • Participating in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in SEN education.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Maths or a related field.
  • Proven experience teaching Maths in a secondary school setting.
  • Significant experience working with students with Special Educational Needs.
  • A deep understanding of SEN strategies and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A commitment to inclusive education and the drive to make a positive impact on the lives of SEN students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
