Literacy Support Assistant
Location: Preston
Position: Full-Time Literacy Support Assistant (KS1)
Hours: 8:45 AM – 3:15 PM, Monday to Friday
Pay Rate: £12.90 per hour

If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our dedicated team as a Literacy Support Assistant at a welcoming Primary School in Preston.
Role Overview:
As a Literacy Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the literacy development of children in Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7). Working closely with class teachers, you will provide targeted assistance in reading, writing, and phonics to help students build a solid foundation in literacy. Your efforts will directly contribute to their confidence and academic progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in developing reading, writing, and phonics skills through one-on-one and small group sessions.
- Support teachers in delivering engaging and effective literacy lessons.
- Monitor and assess students’ progress, providing feedback and adjusting support strategies as needed.
- Foster a positive and encouraging learning environment, helping students to achieve their full potential.
- Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to ensure consistent and integrated literacy support across the curriculum.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, ideally within an educational setting.
- A good understanding of literacy development in early years and Key Stage 1.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards helping children succeed.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in education, teaching assistance, or child development are desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
