Level 2 Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support for Pupil with Global Delay)

Location: Blackburn

Position: Level 2 Teaching Assistant 

Contract: Fixed Term (linked to funding) 

Start Date: November 2024.

We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team at a mainstream primary school in Blackburn. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to the securing of additional funding to support a Year 2 pupil with global developmental delay.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with global delay, ensuring they can access the curriculum alongside their peers.

- Assist the class teacher in differentiating learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs.

- Foster the pupil's social, emotional, and academic development, promoting independence and confidence.

- Implement specific learning strategies and interventions as directed by the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and class teacher.

- Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to the teacher and contributing to the pupil’s individual education plan (IEP) reviews.

- Support the pupil during unstructured times, such as playtime, ensuring their safety and well-being.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

- Hold a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.

- Have experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly global developmental delay (desirable but not essential).

- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting children with additional learning needs.

- Be able to work as part of a team, showing flexibility and a proactive approach.

- Have excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
