Job Title: General Teaching Assistant (Year 2) – Temporary (Potential for Full Academic Year)

Location: Lytham St Annes (FY8) 

Contract Type: Full-Time, Temporary

Start Date: January 2025 

Salary: Competitive, based on experience (including opportunities for progression if extended)

We're now looking for an enthusiastic and reliable General Teaching Assistant to join the Year 2 team at one of our schools. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in young learners' lives, with the potential for the role to extend.

About the Role:
As a Year 2 General Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the daily phonics sessions and assisting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons. You will work closely with both individuals and small groups of students, providing tailored support to help them thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily teaching of phonics to Year 2 students
  • Support students in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, fostering their development in key areas like literacy and numeracy
  • Collaborate with the class teacher to create a positive, stimulating learning environment
  • Help manage classroom behaviour and promote a safe, inclusive atmosphere
  • Take initiative in supporting the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities
  • Demonstrate reliability and a strong commitment to daily attendance
  • Confident working closely with SEN children

What We’re Looking For:

  • Prior experience working with young children in a classroom setting as General Teaching Assistant (experience in Year 2 and teaching phonics is highly desirable)
  • A proactive, positive attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children's learning
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism and reliability
  • Candidate will have a valid DBS on the update system (if not we can assist you!)

Interview/Trial Process:
Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a free trial/interview after the half-term holiday to assess their suitability for the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
