Job description
Learning Support Assistant – Urmston (M41)
Teaching Personnel are currently seeking a resilient and empathetic individual committed to assisting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We require a candidate who has experience in behavioural management and the ability to foster a supportive environment for Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils encountering difficulties.
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a full-time position at a PRU in Urmston. This Pupil Referral Unit specialises in Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils who may have faced challenges in mainstream schools due to behavioural and emotional obstacles. Our focus lies in offering personalised support and interventions to aid students in cultivating positive attitudes, confidence, and academic growth.
The incoming LSA will collaborate closely with teaching staff to implement customized learning plans (Educational Health Care Plans/EHCPs) and behavioural support strategies for students with SEMH needs. Responsibilities include providing one-to-one and small group assistance in the classroom, emphasising both academic progress and emotional well-being. This fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment, utilising behavioural management techniques to uphold a safe and respectful atmosphere.
The successful candidate must feel at ease supporting students with severe anxiety, assisting them in managing their emotions and engaging in learning activities. Hence, building strong rapport and trust with students to nurture their personal development and self-esteem is essential. Additionally, monitoring and documenting students' progress, behaviours, and accomplishments, contributing to individual progress reports, will be part of the role.
Furthermore, the Learning Support Assistant will aid in developing and adapting learning materials to meet the diverse needs of the students. Collaboration with external agencies, parents, and guardians to ensure a comprehensive approach to student support is also crucial.

- Continuous professional development opportunities to enhance expertise in SEMH support and behavioural management.
- The opportunity to significantly impact the lives of vulnerable students.
