Learning Support Assistant – Specialist SEN School
Location: IP28 Area
Salary: £25,500 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (Monday to Friday, 8:45 AM – 4:45 PM)
About the School
This independent specialist SEN school provides education for students aged 11-18 with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, learning difficulties, and other special educational needs. The school is committed to developing positive attitudes to learning, equipping students with the skills needed for further education, employment, and beyond.
The school operates across two sites, including a peaceful countryside setting catering primarily to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students with ASD or ASD traits. The curriculum includes GCSE-level learning, enrichment opportunities, and an emphasis on environmental awareness, as reflected in its Eco Schools Award.
Both sites are dedicated to providing every student with the opportunity to experience success, supporting them in their personal and academic growth to become confident and independent individuals.
The Role
We are looking for a committed Learning Support Assistant to provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with complex needs. The role involves fostering engagement, supporting emotional well-being, and helping students develop key life skills while maintaining a safe and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
✔️ Provide individualised learning support in academic and vocational settings.
✔️ Assist students in developing independence, resilience, and confidence.
✔️ Implement strategies to support behaviour and emotional regulation.
✔️ Support students in managing frustration and developing positive coping mechanisms.
✔️ Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN specialists, and external professionals.
✔️ Maintain accurate records, including risk assessments and support plans.
✔️ Safeguard the welfare of students and adhere to school policies at all times.
What We're Looking For:
Experience working with young people, particularly those with SEN/SEMH needs.
A positive and resilient approach to managing challenging behaviours.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build rapport and act as a trusted adult for students.
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (business insurance required).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
