Job Advert: 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Primary School, Burnley

Position: 1:1 Teaching Assistant
Location: Burnley, Lancashire
Hours: 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday
Start Date: 6th January 2025

We are seeking a committed and empathetic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work within our welcoming and inclusive primary school in Burnley. This rewarding role involves providing personalized support to a Year 3 child with autism, ensuring they feel supported, engaged, and empowered to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing tailored 1:1 support to the child in the classroom and during other school activities.
  • Assisting the child with their learning, emotional, and social development.
  • Working collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and other staff to implement an individualized learning plan.
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Helping the child with transitions and routines to ensure a structured and comfortable day.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with children, ideally in a 1:1 or SEN support role.
  • Knowledge or understanding of autism and strategies for supporting children with additional needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to support the child’s needs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining a proactive attitude.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant certificate.
  • Training in autism awareness or other SEN-specific areas.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
