About the School

In this role you will join a popular secondary school within the Newport area.  The school has an ASD specialist provision dedicated to supporting pupils with complex Additional Learning Needs (ALN), including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

With its own dedicated entrance and separate areas for lunch and breaks, this ASD base offers a tailored environment designed to meet the unique needs of its students. The provision delivers a specialized curriculum led by expert staff, emphasizing the core values of determination and confidence.

The ASD base features small group settings, comprising five teaching rooms and additional smaller support spaces. Each room is organized by developmental stage rather than age, with a focus on addressing the primary needs of the pupils. Individualized learning pathways are created for each student, taking into account their abilities and prior educational experiences.

Through carefully planned interventions, personalized learning programs, and access to mainstream facilities and lessons where suitable, the provision equips pupils with the skills and confidence to develop independence and prepare for adulthood.
