Learning Mentor (SEMH)

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated Learning Mentor to join a nurturing and supportive SEMH provision in Plymouth, starting in September 2024. This full-time role requires working hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm.

As a Learning Mentor (SEMH), you will work with young people who have medical or mental health needs that prevent them from accessing mainstream education. This rewarding role involves promoting self-esteem and working closely with pupils to create a safe and engaging environment where they can develop the skills needed to succeed. You will assist with adapting lessons and teaching materials to suit the young people’s working levels, manage class behavior, and motivate and encourage all pupils to engage with learning.

Requirements:

  • Compassion and empathy
  • A calm and adaptable personality
  • High emotional resilience
  • Experience in nursing, mental health work, or youth work

Requirements to Apply: To work with Teaching Personnel and pass our vetting process, you must have a Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service. Full assistance will be provided if you need to apply for a new check, at a standard cost of £38 plus an annual subscription fee of £13 for the Update Service.
