Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Caldicot
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £85-£100 per day
⏰ Hours: 8:30 AM – 3:00 PM
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Teaching Personnel is delighted to be working with a well-respected secondary school in Caldicot, supporting students aged 11-18. We are currently seeking a dedicated and dynamic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join the team and make a real impact.
About the Role
As an HLTA, you will play a crucial role in supporting students, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) such as ASD, ADHD, and SEMH. You will also work one-to-one with a Year 7 pupil who presents challenging behaviour, using tailored strategies to keep them engaged and progressing in school.
A key aspect of this role involves incorporating sports-based interventions such as rugby, football, tennis, and basketball to help motivate and inspire students. If you have a background in sports or prior experience as a Teaching Assistant, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!
Key Responsibilities
✅ Assist the class teacher in planning, delivering, and evaluating lessons, ensuring they meet the needs of all students.
✅ Provide targeted support to students with additional learning needs, both in small groups and one-to-one.
✅ Implement intervention strategies to support students’ academic and social development.
✅ Work collaboratively with colleagues to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
✅ Support the management of student behaviour using effective techniques tailored to individual needs.
✅ Help with the administration and coordination of assessments, ensuring accurate records of student progress.
✅ Participate in professional development opportunities to continually enhance your skills.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
✔ Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or higher.
✔ Previous experience supporting students at primary or secondary level.
✔ Strong understanding of the national curriculum and inclusive teaching strategies.
✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, building positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
✔ A patient, nurturing, and proactive approach to supporting students’ academic and emotional well-being.
Requirements:
Enhanced DBS clearance (registered on the update service or willingness to apply).
EWC registration (or willingness to apply).
Ability to provide two recent references.
Right to work in the UK.
Safeguarding Level 2 certification (provided free of charge by Teaching Personnel).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
