History Teacher – Permanent Role in Norwich (NR1)

A highly respected secondary school in Norwich is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher to join their Humanities department on a permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is committed to bringing the past to life and inspiring students to think critically about historical events, cultures, and societies.

The successful candidate will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of A-Level teaching for a suitably qualified applicant. The school values a dynamic and interactive approach to teaching, encouraging students to engage with historical debates, source analysis, and independent research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and thought-provoking History lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach a diverse curriculum covering a range of historical periods, themes, and perspectives
  • Develop students’ analytical and evaluative skills through the use of primary and secondary sources
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing tailored feedback and support where necessary
  • Encourage classroom discussions and debate to enhance critical thinking
  • Contribute to curriculum development and the wider school community
  • Lead or support extracurricular activities such as History clubs, trips, and enrichment sessions

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching History at KS3 and KS4 (A-Level experience is desirable but not essential)
  • A strong passion for History and the ability to make the subject engaging for students
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire learners of all abilities
  • A commitment to professional development and innovative teaching methods
  • Willingness to contribute to the school’s wider academic and pastoral initiatives
