Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)
Location: King's Lynn, Norfolk
Start Date: January 2025 (or sooner)
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

A fast-improving and expanding secondary school in King's Lynn, Norfolk is seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and forward-thinking leader to contribute to the continued success and development of the MFL department. The school has a strong focus on student achievement and personal growth, with a supportive and innovative learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the MFL department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning across all languages offered.
  • Develop and implement an engaging and ambitious MFL curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
  • Provide effective leadership to inspire and motivate staff within the department, fostering a collaborative and supportive team culture.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, using data to drive continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the professional development of MFL staff, identifying opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Maintain strong communication with parents, carers, and stakeholders, promoting the importance of language learning.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant school policies and contribute to whole-school initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Modern Foreign Languages or a related field.
  • Proven experience of leading or managing a successful MFL department or significant experience as an outstanding MFL teacher.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum for Modern Foreign Languages.
  • A commitment to raising standards and promoting excellence in language learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire both staff and students.
  • Ability to teach French and/or Spanish up to A-level is desirable.
  • A passion for languages and a creative approach to teaching and learning.
