Head of Maths
Salary: (L5–L9 Leadership Scale)
Location: Sheffield
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Permanent

An outstanding and high-achieving secondary school in Sheffield is looking for an experienced and ambitious Head of Maths to lead and develop the Mathematics department. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional practitioner to drive innovation and excellence in teaching and learning, ensuring that all students are supported to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Maths department.
  • Oversee the planning, delivery, and assessment of a high-quality Maths curriculum.
  • Lead, inspire, and support a team of dedicated teaching staff.
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies for raising attainment across all key stages.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and high expectations.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Mathematics or a related discipline.
  • Substantial teaching experience with a proven record of strong student outcomes.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a Maths department.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum development and assessment at all key stages.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge both staff and students.

Desirable:

  • Experience with data analysis to inform decision-making and intervention strategies.
  • Proven track record of successfully implementing departmental improvements.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
