Job description

Head of Faculty – Maths
Location: Sheffield
Salary: MPS/UPS, Dependent on experience with TLR

Start Date: September 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and dynamic individual to lead the Mathematics Faculty at a highly reputable and large Multi Academy Trust’s secondary school in Sheffield. This role is ideal for an experienced and passionate leader who is committed to delivering high-quality education and driving forward excellence in mathematics.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and managing the Mathematics Faculty, ensuring the highest standards of teaching and learning. They will play a key role in curriculum development, staff development, and student achievement, working closely with senior leaders to drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership and vision for the Mathematics Faculty.
  • Develop and implement innovative and effective teaching strategies.
  • Ensure outstanding progress and attainment for all students.
  • Manage and support a team of mathematics teachers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate teaching quality and student outcomes, implementing strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Lead curriculum planning and ensure alignment with national standards and the academy’s educational vision.
  • Support the professional development of staff through coaching, mentoring, and targeted CPD.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, and the wider school community to enhance student success.
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Mathematics or a related subject.
  • Proven leadership experience within a mathematics department.
  • A track record of raising attainment and delivering high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Strong knowledge of the national curriculum and assessment frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
  • The ability to lead and inspire both staff and students.
