Head of Mathematics – Secondary School (CH64)

Location: Cheshire
Salary: UPS 1 – 3 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2025 or sooner

About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Mathematics to join a 'Good' Ofsted-rated secondary school in the South Wirral/Chesire area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a fully qualified Maths teacher (QTS) with leadership experience to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will lead a well-established and high-achieving Mathematics Department, ensuring the continued success of students at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and management for the Mathematics Department.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, using data-driven strategies to improve attainment.
  • Support and develop a team of Maths teachers, delivering CPD and mentoring where necessary.
  • Ensure the department meets and exceeds GCSE and A-Level performance targets.
  • Foster a positive and engaging learning environment that encourages student success.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to contribute to the school's wider academic goals.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A fully qualified Maths teacher (QTS) with extensive secondary school teaching experience.
  • Previous experience in departmental leadership (e.g., Head of Maths, Deputy Head of Maths, or Lead Practitioner).
  • A strong track record of improving student outcomes at KS3-KS5.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
  • Passionate about raising attainment and inspiring students in Mathematics.
