As we move towards the new term, one of our client schools in Portsmouth is looking to appoint a Maths Graduate to work exclusively within their Maths Department.

This experience will boost future opportunities for teacher training applications and may result in a direct school placement, depending on success.

What are we looking for?

  • A degree in Mathematics OR another subject where Maths is at the forefront.
  • Experience tutoring students, ideally up to GCSE level (A-Level also welcomed)
  • Goals of becoming a Maths Teacher or working in a school within another role.
  • Have and up to date DBS with the Update Service/be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS
  • A willingness to undertake CPD and contribute to the wider school life

The applicant will be directly utilised by the school’s Maths Department. You will be expected to be able to make arrangements for students with additional needs, as well as produce well differentiated resources for students to engage with.

Other factors within this role include:

  • Providing students with literature related to developing exam technique.
  • Working to improve behaviour standards, implementing strategies that look to get the best out of every student.
  • Covering Maths classes when staff are absent, developing classroom management skills.
  • Providing students with consistent support within Maths lessons, looking to target improvement areas as well as provide pastoral assistance when needed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
