Functional Skills Tutor (St Ann’s, NG3)

Do you have a passion for empowering learners and helping them achieve their goals? We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Functional Skills Tutor to join our team in St Ann’s (NG3), providing tailored education and support to pupils who are outside of mainstream education.

About the Role:

  • Location: St Ann’s, NG3 (with potential travel to surrounding areas)
  • Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Hours: Flexible

We work in partnership with local authorities to support learners who require additional help to develop essential skills in English, Maths, and ICT. Many of our pupils are unable to attend mainstream school due to various reasons, including medical, emotional, or behavioural challenges. As a Functional Skills Tutor, you will play a key role in helping these learners gain confidence and progress towards their qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

✅ Deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills lessons in English, Maths, and ICT, tailored to meet the individual needs of learners
✅ Develop and implement personalised learning plans to support learners in achieving their qualifications
✅ Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to learners, parents, carers, and local authorities
✅ Adapt teaching strategies to meet a variety of learning styles and needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment

Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (such as QTS, PGCE, or equivalent) or extensive experience in delivering Functional Skills tuition
  • Strong knowledge of Functional Skills curriculum and assessment requirements
  • Experience working with learners who have additional needs or face barriers to learning is highly desirable
  • Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate or willingness to obtain one
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach to teaching

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
