SEN English Teacher – KS4 (Entry Level & GCSE)
Location: Portsmouth
Start Date: ASAP
Are you an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher with a passion for supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Do you have the skills to inspire both Entry Level and GCSE students in English? We are seeking an experienced SEN English Teacher to work in a supportive, inclusive school in Portsmouth.
The school are committed to creating an environment where every student, regardless of their challenges, is given the opportunity to succeed. They provide tailored support to students with a variety of moderate and complex learning needs, and we are looking for a teacher who can support individualised learning, and who is eager to help students achieve their potential.
Core Responsibilities:
- Plan, deliver, and assess engaging English lessons for KS4 students, including both Entry Level and GCSE students.
- Adapt lessons and resources to meet the individual needs and learning styles of students with SEN.
- Provide differentiated support, ensuring that all students can access the curriculum and make progress.
- Support the development of students’ literacy skills, including reading, writing, and communication.
- Contribute to the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including teaching assistants and SENCO, to ensure students’ needs are met.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to thrive academically and socially.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- Experience teaching English at Key Stage 4 level, including Entry Level and GCSE.
- Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN).
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to suit the diverse needs of SEN students.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
- A compassionate, patient, and flexible approach to teaching.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
