Job description

English Teacher – Permanent Role in Leeds (LS6)

A well-established secondary school in Leeds is seeking a passionate and dedicated English Teacher to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic educator to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping them develop strong literacy skills, analytical thinking, and a love for literature.

The successful candidate will be joining a supportive and high-achieving English department, delivering engaging lessons that challenge and support students of all abilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons across KS3 and KS4
  • Teach a broad curriculum, including classic and contemporary literature, poetry, and language studies
  • Inspire students to develop confidence in reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles and abilities
  • Assess and track student progress, providing tailored support to ensure continuous improvement
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour, engagement, and academic achievement
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop creative and effective teaching resources
  • Contribute to extracurricular activities, such as debating clubs, creative writing workshops, and theatre trips

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4 (experience with A-Level English is desirable but not essential)
  • A passion for English literature and language, with strong subject knowledge
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • A commitment to professional development and contributing to the wider school community
