Role Overview:

Teaching Personnel is seeking an experienced and passionate English Teacher to join a thriving secondary school close to central Birmingham. This full-time role begins in January and will cover a maternity leave, offering an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students in their mathematical learning journey within a highly supportive and well-regarded school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and challenging English lessons to Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation of English
  • Student Achievement: Support all learners, including those with varying abilities, to achieve their full potential through differentiated teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment where all students feel encouraged to participate and excel.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess student work, providing constructive feedback and tracking progress to ensure students meet or exceed expectations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the English department and wider school staff to align teaching with curriculum goals, share resources, and contribute to the department’s success.
  • Pastoral Care: Act as a form tutor or provide support to students as required, fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Preparation for Exams: Prepare students thoroughly for internal and external assessments, providing targeted support to help them succeed in their GCSE examinations.
  • Professional Development: Engage in regular professional development opportunities offered by the school to enhance teaching practice.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in English.
  • Subject Expertise: A strong understanding of the English curriculum and the ability to teach the subject confidently across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Experience: Prior experience in delivering high-quality English lessons and supporting a diverse student population is highly desirable.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Proven ability to create and maintain an orderly and supportive classroom environment.
  • Passion for Teaching: A commitment to inspiring a love of learning in students and promoting their academic and personal growth.
  • Organized and Adaptable: Able to plan lessons effectively while responding to the dynamic needs of the classroom.
  • Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the department’s ongoing improvement.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
