English Specialist Cover Supervisor / Supply Teacher

 

If you have a passion for the written word and want to encourage students to develop their reading and writing skills without the commitment of a full-time role, this is for you. As an English Specialist Cover Supervisor / Supply Teacher, you’ll:

  • Deliver engaging, pre-set English lessons to KS3 and KS4 classes in schools across Southampton.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere where students feel inspired to explore language and literature.
  • Step into varied classrooms, occasionally covering other subjects if you wish to diversify your experience.
  • Embrace a hassle-free approach—enjoy teaching without the burden of lesson planning or marking unless you opt for longer cover, where pay is adjusted accordingly.

Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant qualifications in English (QTS, degree, A Levels, or NVQs) or proven subject expertise.
  • Confident at managing classroom dynamics and motivating learners.
  • Clear communication skills to help students engage with texts and writing tasks.
  • Flexible, reliable, and excited to work with diverse groups of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
