Educational Health Care Assistant (SEN School)

Location: Preston and Blackpool
Salary: Competitive
Hours: Full-time
Contract: Temporary

About the Role:

We are looking for a dedicated Educational Health Care Assistant to join our SEN schools across Preston and Blackpool, where we support children with a wide range of physical, emotional, and learning needs. In this role, you will provide essential health care and learning support to ensure each child can thrive both academically and personally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting students with their personal care needs, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support.
  • Supporting children with complex medical conditions under the direction of healthcare professionals.
  • Working alongside teachers and therapists to implement individualized learning and care plans.
  • Encouraging students’ independence, confidence, and engagement in school activities.
  • Monitoring students' well-being and progress, reporting to SENCOs, teachers, and health professionals.
  • Ensuring a safe and positive environment for all students, promoting inclusion and respect.

About You:

  • Previous experience in a care or educational setting, ideally working with children with special needs.
  • Understanding of medical procedures such as tube feeding, administering medication, or working with mobility aids (training provided if necessary).
  • Compassion, patience, and a positive approach to supporting children with complex needs.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to work closely with teachers, therapists, and healthcare providers.
  • Relevant qualifications in health care, social care, or education are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
