Job description

Learning Support Assistant

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a SEN provision within the Preston area which cater for students, aged 2-19, with profound and multiple learning difficulties; many children who attend this provision are wheelchair users, have speech, language and communication difficulties and work below their age-related expectations. The school provides an inclusive learning environment where the schools remove the children’s barriers for learning and therefore, the pupils can develop not only educationally but also emotionally and physically. As well as providing educational support to the students, the school works alongside professionals to provide physical and hydrotherapy sessions.

The school need multiple Learning Support Assistants to help meet the needs of the new pupils within school. The school require Learning Support Assistants to help a class of pupils (usually between 4 – 6 pupils) throughout the school day.

 

Duties include:

-          Encourage pupils to engage with their learning.

-          Use communicational aids such as Makaton to develop their speech, language and communication.

-          Provide personal care.

-          Use sensory toys for enrichment.

-          Help the Class Teacher to support pupils throughout the school day.

 

The school welcome applicants from people with previous care experience, personal experience providing support to those with SEND, previous experience of supporting children within education or the community.

This is a full-time position, however, if you are available on a part-time basis, your application will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
