Full-Time (Temp to Perm)
We are looking for a dedicated and resilient Design & Technology Teacher to join a Key Stage 3 Alternative Provision School on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a challenging yet rewarding environment, supporting students who have struggled to engage in mainstream education.
The students who attend the school have a range of needs, and many have experienced difficulties in previous settings. You will play a critical role in helping them rebuild confidence, manage their behaviour, and re-engage with their learning journey. The ideal candidate will be passionate about making a difference, with strong behaviour management skills, empathy, and the ability to keep students engaged in practical, creative lessons.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach Design & Technology to Key Stage 3 students, creating exciting and hands-on lessons that inspire creativity.
- Implement effective behaviour management strategies, promoting a positive and respectful classroom environment.
- Build strong, empathetic relationships with students, understanding the challenges they face and providing the support they need to succeed.
- Keep students engaged and motivated, using practical projects and real-world examples to capture their interest.
- Work collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure a consistent, supportive approach across the provision.
- Adapt teaching styles to meet the individual needs of students, many of whom have special educational needs and behavioural difficulties.
- Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback and celebrating their achievements.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience working in an Alternative Provision or with students who have complex behavioural needs.
- Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to engage and inspire students.
- Empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help students overcome challenges and succeed.
- A creative and flexible approach to teaching Design & Technology, adapting lessons to meet individual learning styles.
