Cover Supervisors needed in the Portmsouth area! 

 

Teaching Personnel work with a number of secondary schools across the Portsmouth area are seeking experienced and dedicated Cover Supervisors to join their teams.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the continuity of education for students by providing effective classroom supervision in the absence of their regular teacher.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about education and have the ability to engage with students across a range of subjects and year groups.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Management: Supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring that students remain on task and follow the lesson plan provided by the teacher.

  • Delivering Lessons: Present pre-prepared lessons and instructions to students, ensuring that the learning objectives are met, even in the teacher's absence.

  • Maintaining Order: Uphold the school's behaviour policies by managing student behaviour effectively, ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

  • Support Learning: Assist students with any questions or difficulties they encounter during the lesson, offering support where needed to facilitate their understanding.

  • Administrative Duties: Take attendance, report any issues or incidents to the appropriate staff member, and complete any necessary administrative tasks related to the class.

  • Flexible Coverage: Be prepared to cover a variety of subjects across different year groups, demonstrating adaptability and a broad understanding of the secondary school curriculum.

  • Liaison: Communicate effectively with teaching staff to ensure a smooth transition between lessons and provide feedback on the class’s progress during your supervision.

 

Key Attributes:

  • Experience: Previous experience in a similar role or working with young people in an educational setting is highly desirable.

  • Strong Classroom Management: Proven ability to manage a classroom environment, maintaining order and keeping students focused on their work.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey instructions and expectations to students.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to cover a wide range of subjects and adapt to different classroom environments as needed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
