Salary: £419.25 - £480 weekly pay (depending on experience and qualifications)

Hours: 08:30–15:30

Contract Type: Temporary until August 2025 (potential for permanent contract if successful in the role)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join our dedicated team in a Newport secondary school. You'll support pupils with behavioural, emotional, and social difficulties, working in small groups and one-on-one settings within a resource base. This vital role focuses on encouraging positive behaviour and helping students achieve their academic, social, and emotional goals.

Key Responsibilities

Support for Pupils:

• Provide pastoral care and behavioural support to pupils with additional needs.
• Assist in developing and implementing individual behaviour/support plans.
• Motivate and challenge pupils, boosting self-esteem and reinforcing positive choices.
• Offer one-on-one support for pupils experiencing emotional or behavioural crises.
• Help pupils who struggle with classroom routines and guide them in making appropriate learning and behaviour choices.

Support for Staff:

• Assist teaching staff and SLT in supporting pupils' learning and behaviour.
• Monitor and evaluate pupil progress against action plans.
• Develop and implement behaviour management strategies.
• Build constructive relationships with parents/carers.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience working with children and young people with additional learning needs in education, care, or youth work.
• Possesses a background in psychology, sports coaching, or related fields (advantageous).
• Is passionate about improving students' well-being and behaviour.
• Takes a firm but fair approach to setting boundaries and being a positive role model.

Essential Requirements:

• A DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
• EWC registration and two references (support with this process available if needed).
