Behaviour Learning Support Assistant – Supporting Pupils with SEMH

Location: Basingstoke
Hours: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible (following safer recruitment checks)

A small, supportive school in Basingstoke is seeking a Behaviour Learning Support Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behaviours. This school provides a fresh start for pupils, helping them re-engage with education before returning to a mainstream setting.

About the Role:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs to re-engage with learning in a structured and nurturing environment.

  • Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviours in a calm and supportive manner.

  • Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff to develop individual support strategies.

  • Encouraging positive behaviour, resilience, and emotional well-being.

What We Are Looking For:

  • An energetic and passionate individual with a calming presence.

  • Previous experience working with children in education, sports, or other related settings.

  • Experience supporting young people with medical conditions, complex backgrounds, or mental health challenges is highly desirable.

  • A commitment to helping pupils achieve their potential and successfully transition back to mainstream education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
