Behaviour Support Assistant – Full-Time Opportunity in Levenshulme
Teaching Personnel is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time role begins in December and runs until the end of the academic year, with a potential for a permanent position based on performance. Weekly pay is between £419.25 and £500.
Role Overview:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with students who may require additional guidance in managing behaviour and building positive relationships within the school environment. This is a key role that involves fostering a supportive atmosphere, enabling students to thrive academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student Engagement and Behavioural Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, assisting them in developing self-regulation strategies and building positive behaviours in a school setting.
- Classroom Assistance: Work alongside teaching staff to promote an inclusive, respectful classroom environment. Assist in maintaining classroom discipline and support students during lessons, helping them stay engaged and focused on their learning.
- Implementing Behavioural Plans: Follow behaviour management plans tailored to individual students, applying de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, and structured support to encourage positive choices.
- Mentoring and Relationship Building: Establish positive relationships with students, acting as a mentor and role model to help them build self-confidence, resilience, and respectful communication skills.
- Collaboration with Teaching and Support Staff: Work closely with teachers, SEN coordinators, and pastoral staff to implement behaviour strategies, share observations, and contribute to the development of individual support plans.
- Supervision During School Activities: Supervise students in various settings including break times, school activities, and transitions between classes, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment for all.
- Record-Keeping and Reporting: Document student progress and behaviours, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and maintaining accurate records to support targeted interventions and monitor student development.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Experience in Behaviour Support: Previous experience in behaviour support, youth work, or a similar setting is highly advantageous, especially in working with secondary school students.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively engage with students and staff.
- Patience and Empathy: A calm, understanding approach when working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours, paired with the ability to remain consistent and fair.
- Resilient and Adaptable: Able to manage and adapt to the fast-paced environment of a secondary school, remaining proactive and flexible in various situations.
- Team-Oriented: Collaborative approach to working with staff, contributing positively to the school’s supportive environment.
- Commitment to Safeguarding: Dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive school setting where all students feel valued and supported.

- Start Date: December
- Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Pay: £419.25 - £500 per week
