Job Description:
The Behaviour Support Assistant will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals to support students who present challenging behaviours. The role involves implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour, supporting students in and out of the classroom, and contributing to a safe and productive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to students displaying challenging behaviours.
- Implement and monitor behaviour support plans in collaboration with teaching and pastoral staff.
- Assist in the development and delivery of behaviour management strategies.
- Support classroom management and ensure students remain engaged in learning activities.
- Foster positive relationships with students to encourage appropriate behaviour and social interactions.
- Assist in conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies as needed.
- Monitor and record student behaviour, providing feedback to staff and parents/carers.
- Collaborate with external agencies and professionals where appropriate.
- Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
Person Specification:
- Experience working with children or young people exhibiting challenging behaviours is desirable but we will consider experience working with adults who have similar difficulties
- Relevant qualifications in behaviour management or special educational needs are advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to working with diverse student needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
