Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Teaching Personnel are working with an outstanding all-boys SEMH school that is looking for dedicated Behaviour Mentors to support both primary and secondary pupils. This is a highly rewarding role where you can make a real difference in the lives of students facing significant challenges.
About the Role:
- Location: Horsham, West Sussex
- Position: Full-time Behaviour Mentor (Primary & Secondary)
- Salary: £25,000 per annum, paid 52 weeks per year
- Start Date: Immediate start available
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored behavioural support to boys with SEMH needs in both primary and secondary settings
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in a positive and proactive way, maintaining a calm and controlled learning environment
- Work closely with teaching staff to develop individual behaviour plans, ensuring consistency and continuity in approach
- Build trusting relationships with pupils to help them develop better coping strategies and improve their emotional resilience
- Encourage and support the academic, social, and emotional development of students
- Offer mentorship and guidance to help students develop positive behaviours and life skills
What We’re Looking For:
- Resilience & Patience: A calm, strong-minded individual who can manage challenging situations with compassion and persistence
- Experience with SEMH or Behavioural Needs: Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is beneficial but not essential
- Strong Communication Skills: The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with students, staff, and parents, and work collaboratively with the wider school team
- Commitment & Continuity: Candidates must be consistent, reliable, and able to provide stability for students who need it most
- Passion for Helping Young People: A genuine interest in making a positive impact in the lives of students who face emotional and behavioural difficulties

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
