September Start

Full time

Bridgend area

Teaching Personnel are working closely with a local school which are looking for a Teaching Assistant to provide support with a particular pupil. This pupil has had a diagnosis with Autism (ASD) and can channel their frustrations through complex behavioural difficulties. Due to the nature of the pupils needs, we will need a confident and experienced individual to support them on a day-to-day basis.

The School

The school is situated on the outskirts of Bridgend close to motorway links and public transport. The school supports just under 200 pupils. The needs of the pupils include complex Behavioural, Emotional and Social Difficulties (BESD) including Autism alongside specific learning difficulties and other additional learning needs. The school prides themselves on providing accessible education to all, especially on an individual basis to cater the teaching style  to that specific pupil. Positive encouragement and solution led thinking is really important so the pupil can celebrate every success and feel safe and secure in their environment.

The ideal candidate

-          Passionate about providing specialist education to young people

-          Confident and pro-active individual which is unphased by challenging behaviour

-          Has carried out de-escalation training or positive behaviour management training e.g. Team Teach trained

-          Looking for a role you can commit to and provide consistency within the school environment

-          Has a basic knowledge and understanding of additional learning needs or a willingness to learn. Where this would be advantageous is for example; providing support to pupils which have difficulties with their social interactions. Taking initiative to encourage them to make connections with other pupils and build on their relationships will teach them life-long skills they can take into adulthood

-          Is pro-active both in and out of the classroom e.g. engaging the pupils in playground activities, incorporating sports into their breaktimes etc

Ideal does not necessarily mean that all of the above is essential to apply. Therefore, if you feel you can satisfy some of the below and bring other experience to the table, we would still love to hear from you.

If you feel as though this school sounds like a place you could find your next venture, and you are ticking boxes as an ideal candidate, we would love to hear from you. Please submit your CV for consideration and we will contact you within 48 hours to discuss shortlisting.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
