1:1 Support Assistant – SEN Primary School (Irlam)

We are seeking a 1:1 Support Assistant to work closely with a primary-aged student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in our welcoming SEN primary school in Irlam. This is a fantastic opportunity to use creativity and tailored strategies to help a student thrive in a safe and structured environment.

About the Role

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support, helping to create a positive and engaging learning experience
  • Use a range of strategies to keep the student engaged in activities, fostering independence and confidence
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to adapt learning to the student’s needs
  • Support the development of communication, social, and emotional skills in a patient and understanding manner
  • Use de-escalation techniques and a calm, proactive approach to help manage moments of challenge

Who We’re Looking For

  • Someone with a patient, resilient, and adaptable nature
  • Experience working with children with ASD and/or additional needs (preferred but not essential)
  • A passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning
  • The ability to think creatively and use different techniques to engage and motivate students
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
