Youth Worker - Full-Time Role
Location: Levenshulme, Greater Manchester
Start Date: October
Salary: £419.25 - £500 per week

An Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Levenshulme is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Worker to join their team on a full-time basis. This role will begin in October and run until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent position based on performance. The school is looking for someone passionate about supporting young people in both their personal and academic development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Student Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, particularly those facing challenges in their school life. Help them overcome barriers to learning, improve their attendance, and engage more positively with school.
  • Mentoring and Guidance: Act as a positive role model and mentor, offering students guidance on managing personal challenges, building self-esteem, and developing resilience.
  • Social and Emotional Development: Work closely with students to support their social and emotional development. Help students develop positive relationships with peers, manage their emotions, and cope with stressful situations.
  • Behavioral Support: Collaborate with staff to support positive behavior in and outside the classroom. Implement strategies to manage and improve challenging behaviors, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning.
  • Interventions: Design and deliver targeted intervention programs focused on key areas such as self-esteem, anger management, and social skills.
  • Liaison with Parents and Carers: Communicate regularly with parents and carers, keeping them informed of students' progress and working together to support their development.
  • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teaching and pastoral staff to ensure that the needs of students are met. Share insights into students' progress and help staff implement strategies to better engage students.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Track the progress of students you are working with, ensuring that you can report on their behavior and development to other staff members and parents.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience Working with Young People: Previous experience in a youth work, mentoring, or similar role is highly desirable.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Empathy and Patience: A compassionate and supportive approach to working with young people, especially those facing personal or behavioral challenges.
  • Behavior Management: An understanding of effective strategies for managing challenging behavior and promoting positive social interactions.
  • Commitment to Student Wellbeing: A genuine passion for helping young people succeed both academically and personally.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, including teachers, pastoral teams, and senior leadership.
