Trainee Teaching Assistant (Welsh-Speaking) – Full-time (Caerphilly)
Hourly Rate: £12.90 per hour

Are you a fluent Welsh speaker looking to start a rewarding career in education? Teaching Personnel is recruiting for a Welsh-speaking Trainee Teaching Assistant in the Caerphilly area, starting immediately and running for the remainder of the academic year. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to gain valuable experience in the classroom, with the potential for further training and a pathway to a permanent role in the future. Interviews will be held within the next two weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN), such as Autism and ADHD.
  • Assist students in managing challenging behaviours.
  • Help students understand and engage with learning tasks.
  • Deliver support in both English and Welsh to ensure all learners can access the curriculum.
  • Read aloud materials to students in Welsh.
  • Work closely with subject teachers to provide tailored classroom support.

You will be working with small groups of students in Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), providing individualised support for those with a variety of learning needs. The school is keen to invest in a passionate and capable candidate, offering training and development opportunities to help you excel in the role.

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Fluency in Welsh is essential.
  • No prior experience as a Teaching Assistant is required.
  • A background in care, support work, or sports coaching with children is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring nature.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students in their learning journey.

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) is preferred.
  • Enhanced DBS check (must be on the Update Service).
  • Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
  • A commitment to helping others and promoting bilingual education.

Teaching Personnel can assist with DBS and EWC registration if needed.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
