Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM (Full-time and Part-time positions available)
Pay: Starting from £83.85 per day
Start Date: ASAP
About Us:
We are a dynamic and inclusive primary school based in Newport, dedicated to creating a nurturing environment where every child feels supported and valued. We are looking for a passionate, patient, and proactive Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide support across all areas of the school.
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide essential support to both individual students and groups across different year groups. Your responsibilities will include:

Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional, and academic challenges.

Assisting in the delivery of the curriculum to help children engage, understand, and succeed.

Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement tailored support plans for children with additional learning needs (ALN).

Helping children develop key skills such as literacy, numeracy, social interaction, and emotional regulation.

Promoting positive behaviour and supporting children to manage their emotions.

Fostering a safe and inclusive environment where all children feel valued and supported.

Building strong, positive relationships with pupils and assisting in the communication between home and school.

Has a genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development.

Is patient, empathetic, and able to build trusting relationships with students and staff.

Is flexible and can adapt to the needs of the school and its pupils.

Works well as part of a team and is proactive in identifying and addressing children’s needs.

Experience working with children or in a school setting is helpful but not required.

Requirements:

Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
-
Hold a Child-only DBS certificate registered on the Update System.
-
Provide 2 professional references covering the last 24 months.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
