Job description

We're Hiring: One-to-One Tutors – Maths & English (Wakefield)

Do you have a passion for teaching and a talent for helping learners grow in confidence and ability?

We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic one-to-one tutors to deliver Maths and English sessions to children and young people in Wakefield. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference through personalised, targeted support.

Position: One-to-One Tutor – Maths & English

Location: Wakefield (in schools, community settings, homes or online)
Hours: Flexible part-time (during or after school hours)
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (based on experience and qualifications)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality one-to-one tuition in Maths and/or English (KS1–KS4)

  • Adapt lessons to meet individual learning needs and gaps

  • Build positive, supportive relationships with pupils to boost confidence and progress

  • Track and report on pupil progress and engagement


What You’ll Need:

  • Experience tutoring or teaching Maths and/or English (school, private, or intervention settings)

  • A strong understanding of the UK curriculum

  • Excellent communication and organisation skills

  • A proactive, pupil-focused approach

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
