Trainee Teaching Assistant
Teaching Personnel are seeking individuals who aspire to work with children in secondary schools in the Cardiff area to support pupils aged 11-16.
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you’ll receive free online safeguarding training courses to complete throughout the registration process followed by a trial placement in a local secondary school. Following this, we’ll be able to offer you positions in your area.
Our Trainee Teaching Assistant roles are excellent opportunities for anyone passionate about supporting young people through their educational journeys, many of whom have Additional Learning Needs (ALN) such as Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) & other similar learning difficulties. Providing support to pupils with ALN is highly rewarding job where you see each day the different you make to a young person’s development and growth!

Trainee Teaching Assistant Details:
- Supporting pupils aged 11-16
- Earn £90 per day
- Hours: 8:30 – 15:30 (term time only)
- Start dates from March 3rd 2025
As a Trainee Teaching Assistant, you will complete comprehensive induction training including: Introduction to being a Teaching Assistant, Level 2 Safeguarding, KCSIE (Keeping Children Safe in Education), and Positive Behaviour training.

- The Prevent Duty: Safeguarding Students from Radicalization
- Understanding Autism: Strategies for Effective Support
- Comprehensive Dyslexia Diploma: Empowering Learners with Reading Difficulties
- An In-depth Introduction to the Thrive Approach: Promoting Emotional Well-being
- The Complete SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Diploma: Inclusive Education Strategies
Teaching Personnel also offer opportunities for further career development with trainings including TeamTeach and Cover Supervisor training which will provide you with skills and knowledge that schools highly value and improve future career opportunities.
Successful Trainee Teaching Assistants will have:
- A passion for education
- Commitment to completing all required training courses promptly
- Dedication and willingness to support pupils with a range of needs
- Transferable social and communication skills from previous employment or hobbies
- An enhanced DBS check on the update service (guidance will be given)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
